Hell Bay, Bryher, Isles of Scilly
WRITTEN IN SEPTEMBER 2000
Your turmoil taken by the tossing waves
Your burden made light when they break
Your spirit uplifted by their rhythmic roar
Your worries disappear in their wake
Their tossing and breaking can give so much calm
Their roaring and crashing can bring so much peace
Your fears dissolve like the foam they scatter
And the power of nature overwhelms you with ease
What words cannot say the sea gives expression
Its majesty gives a tumultuous soul rest
When human strength fails to give inspiration
Hope increases upon each wave’s crest
The shades of the sea give colour to your hope
As the anguish you took there is dissipated
You leave the coast with the wind in your hair
With a blissful joy you could not have anticipated
